Meet the founders- Stephen and Monika Howard

Howard's Hound Haven was a dream of Monika's. As an avid animal lover and advocate, her dream was to help dogs get a second chance and not be needlessly euthanized at our local shelters due to overcrowding or being misunderstood.

Although we both work full time in K-12 education, every day you will find us feeding, watering, and playing with the Haven pittie crew. Farm chores for the other rescued animals, including sheep, goats, chickens, geese and ducks keep us young.

Mookie is currently being trained to help him be the best version of himself. He is a sweet pittie mix, who loves back scratches. Mookie is currently about 3 years old.

Siah has a had a rough start to life, but in foster care she is turning her life around for the better. She is not quite ready for adoption, but looking for a long term foster to adopt situation. She is dog friend with slow introductions. We think Siah is under a year old.

Nola- a sweet 3 year old female , good with dogs and kids

Baja is a young year old or so boy who is looking for adventure. He is as sweet as he looks and loves to be cuddled or can play all day. He is a cattle, herding, terrier mix and weighs about 35 lbs.

Truckee is about 4 years old and has been in a board and train program. He will come with free training for the right adopter. He is a fun guy who likes room to run and prefers to be an ol=nly dog, but could do well with a slow introduction to other household dogs.

Machiatto is about 3 years old and has been in a board and train program. He does well with other dogs.
